Positive price trends in CEE fuel hopes of a good year for stock markets in 2012

Since the start of the year, the ATX, which tracks the prices of blue chips listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in real time, has been developing positively and has gained 16%. The ATX was not alone, because the performance of nearly all CEE indices was good in 2012. For companies it is a good time to take advantage of an IPO window. And since the trend is towards shorter IPO windows, IPO candidates are recommended to prepare in time for the labor and time consuming process in order to be able to benefit from the short windows of opportunity.

Up to now, there have not been any IPOs in the CEE region in 2012. Nonetheless, the average issuing volume per company was approximately EUR 208 million within the CEE Stock Exchange Group – with consists of the exchanges of Budapest, Ljubljana, Prague and Vienna – while the average issuing volume per company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange was only EUR 11 million in 2011. The average monthly trading volume per company also permits positive conclusions. Within the CEE Stock Exchange Group, the figure for January 2012 was 33.9 million, while in Warsaw it was EUR 10.4 million.
